Peanut Butter Fruit: Part Duex

Two years ago, I posted about our peanut butter fruit tree, which had given us a few rather disappointing orange fruit that tasted a bit like peanut butter but wasn’t really anything special.

Fast forward to this week and I’m picking up the eggs from the hens and I notice tons of fruits on the tree. It was getting dark, but I leaned over the fence and picked as much as I could reach.

“That Poor Chicken!”

We’ve had backyard chickens for years now and I’ve really come to enjoy having fresh eggs overflowing from our fridge because that means anytime I need tons of eggs for cakes or dinner or things like that, I never have to worry about opening my carton and finding I only have 3 when I need 5 or need 2 when I only have 1. Stuff like that happens to me with cooking all the freaking time.

Last year, after I stupidly suggested we go to the Hawaiian Humane Society “just to look” at the puppies I saw they had on Facebook, we ended up taking home a puppy. She was so tiny and we were sure our dog Max would find a way to accidentally eat her, but she grew up just fine and is still running around our yard like a frantic puppy.

Ong Choi: The Weed That Keeps on Giving

Back when I was in high school, my mom brought home some big bunch of greens and said the farmer’s market lady told her it was ong choi and easy to cook. With just some oil, garlic, and salt fried in a pan until the leaves are cooked down and you’re done.

She gave it a try and I don’t think I tried it the first time, but my mom loved it. Eventually I realized how amazing it was in both taste and health factor.
