SimpleMarkup #196 – Editorial Landscaping

As I close in on Comic #200, I’m feeling some serious comic writer’s block. It’s like the pressure suddenly made it harder to come up with funny things to say about editing. Or maybe it’s just that I’m too hard on myself and have simply reached the limit on how much I can stack up on my desk.

This is the first time I’ve posted a comic on a Wednesday—once my reliable publishing day of the week—in a really long time. I hope to get back into a regular schedule now that school is back in session.

Whenever I think about overly flowery books, the first author that comes to mind is Jean M. Auel. I remember loving Clan of the Cave Bear back when I was a teenager, but when I tried to read one of the sequels (I can’t remember which one), I ended up DNFing it because of the extensive descriptions of prehistoric plant life.

And now, decades later, I’m here drawing on that book memory to write a comic. Ha!

Have a great rest of your week.
