Anyone who’s known me since high school knows that I used to have a rather unhealthy obsession with Romeo and Juliet, particularly Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, though I was also a big Shakespeare fan in general, calling Julius Caesar my favorite play for several years. When I first saw this trailer, of course I had to groan because of the pun in the title and the obviously goofy subject matter of gnomes in general, but the kids had cleaned up the house on Saturday and rain prevented us from doing something outdoors.
WTF is Rambutan?
If you’ve ever been lucky enough to see these in a market, your first thought was probably something like, “What the flippin’ hell is that?” You were probably in for another shocker when you looked at the price; rambutan is ridiculously expensive, even in Hawaii, where it’s grown commercially.
If you’ve never seen it until now, you’re probably at least a little alarmed. Yes, this is a fruit. And a seriously delicious one at that!
Attack of the Fried Green Tomatoes
When the end times rolled around for the wild tomato plant out back, I picked the bigger ones off and ended up with an army of them.
Garden Update: February 2011
See what’s up in our yard now with progress on old plants and updates on new plants. My poor little melon got eaten by some bugs!
